1. RELAY FOR LIFE Event is Saturday, April 27th
It's NOT TOO LATE to SHiNE with us at this year's Relay for Life! This relay is a GREAT way to show your support for those who have or are battling cancer, those who have survived and for all of the family and friends who have been touched by this disease. PLEASE consider joining us. You can walk 1 lap or 100 (or somewhere in between). You can hang with us for a few minutes or a few hours. You can donate $100 or $1000. However you want to show your support, we'll take it!
We'll be set up under a tent and will be wearing our SHiNE shirts. We'll have a few goodies you can purchase to support the Relay, including both snacks and products, and we'll also have a Gift-Away for all those who stop by our tent!
You can visit our WEBSITE to sign up.
2. TEEN SHE
As we mentioned at our March event, we will be hosting our FIRST SHE EVENT for TEENS and WE ARE STOKED!!!
We will be working with several different churches around the area as well as women all over the community to bring an amazing event
to teenage girls.
We are looking at August, and we'll send the date out either later this month or early May.
BE WATCHING so you don't miss the date.

The Syllable
BECOME
A short but beautiful word. As I thought about this word something drew me into it. Something simple. Something so simple that most of us can’t even see it. Something like… the syllable. Yes, I’m talking about the dividing line that separates the word “become” into two words “be” and “come.” Then I knew. I knew that this is where it all begins…the journey. And your journey begins with…”Be.”
“Be?” Yes. You see your journey begins here because you became. You became because the most powerful force in the universe designed, constructed, and patterned your very existence out of the particles of dust from the earth. He, Almighty God, formed you and gave you radiant physical attributes that were carefully thought of. Attributes that He patterned after your mom and dad whom He also created.
David, a man after God’s on heart, said in Psalm 139:13-16…”For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.”

This Designer
skillfully created everything that you are. Your personality, what you like and don’t like. He knew what would make you happy, what would make you sad, what you would be afraid of, and most importantly…what you would become. He brought you into being hoping that you would simply…come.
Would you come to the One who designed you? Would you draw near to him in your distorted view of what he created you for and allow him to reform that view into what it was intended to be. The view that you were uniquely designed for a God given purpose to simply…become.
Become all that He designed you to be…to be like Him, to know Him, to follow Him, to worship Him. He brought you into being to come unto Him.
So…as you journey, be …and know that the Almighty God perfectly designed every part of you;
as you journey, come …and he will give you an abundant life;
as you journey, become …more of Him. The created ... in the likeness of the Creator.
Reading between the lines,
Amy

What a wonderful first quarter we've had!
THANK YOU to all the women who came to the March SHE Workshop!! We had a wonderful time with you! It never ceases to amaze me how much you add to the event. We plan for months for each event and then look forward to what you will add through all of your contributions. Your comments, your laughter, your shouts, your tears, your vulnerability, your honesty, your presence! YOU really are the reason we do these events! We want to be on that journey with you of becoming ALL that God originally intended for you to be when He so beautifully created you! We were "born to make manifest the glory of God that is inside us" ... ALL OF US! That includes YOU, and you definitely bless us and make manifest His glory when you share your days with us at SHE events!
We are already working on the Fall 2-day conference. I've never been more nervous and excited about an event. I can't tell you much right now, but I'll tell you that I've been personally stepping out of my comfort zones asking a lot of questions to a lot of people lately in hopes of bringing you an event like none we've brought yet! As our organization grows, and as God enlarges our territory, we have big plans for you. We are being patient, though, and asking God for direction and discernment and praying for the best timing, HIS timing, for all of our plans. We want Him to be glorified in all we do!
And, yes, we are working hard on the Teen event, too! We have a date, but we aren't ready to release it yet. Watch for it sometime in the coming weeks. Don't forget to check out our TEEN blog post below. Read it yourself, as it is good for us all to read, and be sure to pass it along to your daughters, nieces and any young lady you know. Being transparent and authentic is vital to having genuine friendships.
We will be praying for those of you with school-aged children as you approach the end of the school year! Lots going on and lots to do - FINISH STRONG! And for all of you, we will continue praying for you along your journey of becoming!
Hi. My name is Kasia. Welcome to my kitchen. I cook. I bake. I plan meals. I organize things. Occasionally I craft and DIY it up. Most of my recipes are healthy, but every once in a while splurges are totally welcomed (and always indicated).
Recipe for this month:
Strawberry Shortcake Cookies It’s April! It’s been four months since the holiday sweets overload season. We’re probably all still doing a great job at eating healthier since we indulged way too much in holiday goodness (or was that just me?). It might be time to break out the cookie scoop again. March also means theStrawberries are starting to taste better! What better way to ease into the spring than a HEALTHY cookie recipe?? I’m in.
Ingredients:
6 tbsp Brummel and Brown yogurt butter
2 tbsp fat free sweet condensed milk
little less than 1/2 cup of fake buttermilk (1 cup milk + 1 tsp vinegar)
2 tbsp sugar
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp kosher salt 1 tbsp splenda
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°F. In a small bowl, stir together the strawberries, lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of the splenda and set aside. In a large bowl (or stand mixer mixing bowl with flat paddle) mix together sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt until combined. Spoon the Brummel and Brown into the flour mixture 1 spoon at a time until you have coarse crumbs. Add fat free sweet condensed milk and 1/2 cup of fake buttermilk to the bowl and stir until the dough starts to come together. Gently fold in the strawberry mixture. If the mixture is too dry add more of the fake buttermilk, but not much! I used 2/3 and it was too much, they were too moist.
Use a cookie scoop or measuring tablespoon to scoop dough onto a prepared baking sheet (parchment lined or lightly sprayed with cooking spray) or cooking stone. Bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown. Transfer the pans to wire racks and let the cookies cool for 1 minute. Then transfer cookies to wire racks to continue cooling. The cookies are best the day they're made, but can be kept in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
A Teen's Perspective on Crying
by Maddie Rae in GA
My math teacher told me she doesn’t like to cry in front of people because she thinks it’s a sign of weakness; it shows someone has more power over you. People cry out of pain, suffering, sadness, misery, destruction, anger, frustration, to let out steam, for attention, sorrow, angst, regret, hate and the list of negativity could go on and on. I think I’ve cried due to every one of those. However, I disagree with my math teacher. Maybe there is an alternative to crying. What truly makes crying, crying?
It’s the tears, right? No matter what the feeling is tears are ultimately what seems to always come with crying.
I have this one best friend whom I love so much. She is truly the epitome of a rock; she has divorced parents, she struggles with her religious beliefs, money is tight, and her life was based around bad relationships. Though no matter what she goes through, she manages to distract her uncomfortable thoughts with keeping herself busy. She’s apart of 7 different school clubs, head of the
leadership program at her huge school, running for class president on top of her 4 AP classes and working to raise money for college. I’ve repeatedly wished to have the drive she does. And being her best friend, I get her. I can understand/accept her craziness. I’m really close with her mom and sister, and I try to always be there for her when she needs me. Before we became super close, I wondered why she never cried in front of me. See, the way I look at tears and crying is that ...

This March, we are excited to share how taking a proactive approach to managing these expectations can help set you up for success in all areas of your life.

Tip for this month:
A quick how to - How to Use Frozen Bananas
to Make Banana Bread
Did you know this?! I heard it from many sources, but I froze one once, defrosted it, it got all squishy and I FREAKED! I threw it away thinking it was
a ruined, rotten, gross, slimy mess. I goggled "how to use frozen bananas to make banana bread" and didn't come up with any good results. I finally asked the friends who said they did it and it worked! I had 12 frozen bananas and made one big loaf and 5 mini loaves of banana bread with them. Here's what I learned:
Collect browning/spotting bananas in the freezer, peeling in tact and on.
When you're in a bakey mood, take the bananas out and let them thaw for a bit in bowls. You could just thaw them on the counter, but they will get a little juicy and I didn't want to clean that up. I put the three needed per each recipe in a bowl.
Once you can press on the banana and it feels squishy (and maybe a little gross) they are ready to be squeezed out. Use kitchen scissors to cut the end of the banana off, just enough of an opening to squeeze out the banana goo.
SQUEEZE. You're basically just going to milk all the gooey banana goodness out into the bowl, mash, and then use in any banana bread recipe like you would any bananas.
